Advent Prayer: Moist is Your Heart

ADVENT PRAYER

God of life, moist is your heart.
Daily it breaks open like a storm cloud,
showering us with your extravagant goodness.

Saturate us with your love.
For in your wet grace
we gestate and grow,
bud forth and blossom as your beloved people.

Wherever you plant us
may justice bloom,
and injustice rot.

May kindness break forth
and cruelty drop away like autumn leaves.

May mercy flourish,
and revenge shrivel up.

May compassion blossom,
and complacency die.

May joy break out in song and dance,
and mourning and sorrow cease to be. Amen.
