ADVENT PRAYER

Still Our Hearts

Shhhhhhhh.
Holy One,
give us the wisdom and the means
to slow down and be still.

Shoosh our frantic hearts.
Quiet our frightened minds.
Calm our frenetic lives.

Give us the courage to do less and to be more:

Less busy
and more available to you;
Less self-critical
and more open to your prodigal love;
Less presumptuous
and more grateful for the surprise of living;
Less lethargic
and more responsive to the small wonders of each day;
Less judgmental
and more gentle to people, places, and things;
Less callous
and more kind to all creatures great and small.
Amen.
