my favorite lines from henry james. yes,
a long time friend of long ago offered this, and it stuck in my mind: Much of Life is toil and trouble. Two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in one’s own.
my thought, courage requires friends. and courage, as kindness, is not like aspirin. Is is not “instantaneouos, guaranteed relief”, but takes time and work and hope and faith, especially with oneself…
