Brother Weeps Offers An Aside

Sometimes, the most memorable—if not the most important—thing a teacher has to teach us comes by way of a temporary departure from their main theme, an aside, some off-the-cough comment, or a brief digression before returning to their original topic. To this day, I remember such an aside that Brother Weeps made though I can’t remember the topic of his talk when he said it. I’m like a dog with a bone. I’ve been chewing on it every day since.

Brother Weeps said, “There is no such thing as an atheist—only different names for God.” He said, ” I suspect most of us in this room could spend a week with someone and at the end of that week know what that person worshiped, what moon in their life had the strongest pull on their heart, and where their deepest investment lay.”
